Whether submerged in the ocean or out in the scorching desert sun, Turpentine has been
used extensively due to its unique properties. An Australian timber species, Turpentine is tough
enough to meet the harshest conditions that our climate can dish out, which makes it the perfect choice for decking.

Australian Turpentine is a beautiful timber with colours that vary from dark red-browns through to deep chocolate. It features a straight grain, and a coarse yet even texture. The texture is fine to medium but often wavy with an interlocked grain, and is relatively free of gum veins.

Grown between Sydney and Cairns in high rainfall areas, Turpentine is one of the most difficult timbers to burn in Australia. It can be used in BAL 29 bushfire areas and has the highest natural durable rating for timber. Turpentine is resistant to termites, has a Janka Rating of 12 and Class One durability above ground. Due to its high silica content, it is excellent around water and has been used as a wharf timber for a long time in Australia.
